Organic Black Beans
Like other legumes, such as and lentils, black beans are prized for their high protein and fiber content. They also contain several other key vitamins and minerals that are known to benefit human health.
Black beans are protein powerhouses, with 7 grams of protein in a 1/2 cup serving.
Wash and soak them in water for at least 8 to 10 hours before cooking to achieve optimum flavor and texture. You can tell they are finished soaking when you can split them easily between your fingers.
Bring your pot to a bthen reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about an hour. You can start checking around 45 minutes and let them keep cooking until they are completely tender. Add more water as necessary while they are cooking so that they stay covered in liquid.
Without soaking cooking time is about 2 hours.
