Organic Arrowroot Powder
The arrowroot starch is a very fine white powder that has excellent thickening abilities similar to cornstarch. It is an excellent nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and corn-free thickener and binder. A huge plus is that it is flavourless, so it can be seamlessly added to savoury dishes and baked goods.
Arrowroot powder can be used as a way to thicken soups, stews, gravies, and sauces. You do this by making a “slurry.” Mix the arrowroot into a cold liquid such as water or non-dairy milk and whisk until smooth. Then you pour the slurry into the hot sauce or gravy to thicken it and make it glossy.
It’s not compatible with cream-based sauces and non-frozen dairy products.
