Natural Raw Pitted Dates
Dates are a great way to sweeten your baking, breakfasts or on their own as a snack, instead of using traditional sugars. They are very sweet (but have a low glycemic index) and have a caramel like taste, which works great in many recipes. They are high in fiber, disease fighting antioxidants, potassium, magnesium and vitamin B6.
Want some ideas for how to use your dates in meals, rather than just snacking on them?
Oatmeal: Chopping them up and adding to your oatmeal in the morning? Along with other seeds and nuts, this creates a delicious and nutritious meal to start your day.
Apple Caramel Sauce: Add chopped dates to a warming pot of applesauce, let the dates cook down and dissolve into the apples. Add a tsp of coconut oil at the end to really give it that caramel sauce flavour! Delicious on just about anything, and it’s dairy and sugar free.
